From Tuesday, June 11 to Saturday, June 15, 2024, Nanou celebrates its first 20 years with the City of Viterbo and ATCL at the Teatro dell'Unione in Viterbo with the N20 dance festival.
Four appointments, a masterclass, and a meeting at the Aula Magna of the University of Tuscia to delve into the language and methods of nanou group creation.

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of gruppo nanou, Teatro dell'Unione of Viterbo hosts the special N20 project dedicated to the in-depth study of the language and method of creation of the nanou group company through various types of artistic experience.

N20 is a moment of celebration designed to share an artistic practice with the public, to tell a language, but above all to build together a direct dialogue with the territory and form a new community around cultural spaces.
For Nanou, the key pedagogical element is the choreography which makes it possible to create relationships between different disciplines, between the identities of each body which is necessarily born different, which generates coexistence and collaboration of each subject, artistic and linguistic. With choreography we choose to share a space and time for the definition of a common, democratic place, capable of enhancing differences to build a collective social object.

The exhibition, which falls within the scope of the collaboration between the Comune di Viterbo and ATCL, circuito multidisciplinare del Lazio sostenuto da MIC Ministero della Cultura e Regione Lazio, will be preceded on Thursday 6 June at 11AM by Sentimental Geographies, dialogue with Marco Valerio Amico of the nanou group and Dr. Mauro Petruzziello at theAula Magna of the University of Tuscia. At the event, organized in collaboration with the C.U.T. “La Torre” University Theater Center at the monumental complex of Santa Maria in Gradi, also featuring Alfonso Antoniozzi, deputy mayor of Viterbo and Isabella Di Cola, artistic director of ATCL.

Alphabet: Metodo - ph. Lorenzo Pasini

The opening of the Alphabet: Method masterclass will be presented on Tuesday 11 June at 7pm in the foyer of the Theatre, scheduled from 4 to 10 June and aimed at professional dancers, selected through a public call. The Alphabet method represents a choreographic research and transmission tool conceived and conducted by the choreographer Marco Valerio Amico of gruppo nanou. With Alphabet the company chooses to open the transmission process by sharing the choreographic method, revealing the compositional process and dismantling it layer by layer, reaching the profound reason for a choice and highlighting the relationship between the signs that constantly intervene in the scenic composition.

Canto Primo: Miasma / Arsura

On Wednesday 12 June in a double performance at 7.00pm and 9.00pm, it will be the turn of Arsura, with the choreography of Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci, the latter also on stage, which aims to measure the resistance of a single body in a vast space. The dance action does not bother to fill the space, on the contrary, it unbalances it by finding remote corners, leaving the body to always evidently be alone in a temporal vastness. Più trascorre il tempo, più il luogo è caratterizzato dal tempo e dalla sparizione del corpo in quanto la figura viene assorbita dallo spazio stesso.

THEM still video

Them - motion picture (June 13th at 7pm and 9pm) is an installation that relates to the video camera and the opportunity for perspective multiplication of vision thanks to real-time audiovisual reproduction. The choreographic installation signed by Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci is a sequence interpreted by the dancers - Carolina Amoretti, Marina Bertoni, Andrea Dionisi - repeated, rediscovered several times and observed, always with a new eye, by the hand-held video camera managed by the choreographer Bracci , also on stage. The scene is presented as a circular territory, observable from any front.

The exhibition closes with the latest nanou group project, redrum with choreographies by Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci, on stage by Carolina Amoretti, Marina Bertoni, Rhuena Bracci, Andrea Dionisi, Agnese Gabrielli, Marco Maretti on 14 and 15 June at 7pm: 00 in the foyer. Redrum was born from the desire to immerse the spectator within a universe made of emotional effects and cultural references, to push him into the imaginary world that the company has always traversed, made up of choreographic compositions, cinematographic references and visual art spaces. The format is that of an installation: the show does not have a beginning and an end, but an opening and a closing. The installation lasts three hours a day. The public can remain inside the installation for as long as they are allowed, they can enter, exit, move within the space or remain still.
