Neverwhere is a perpetually inhabited space in which the viewer is invited to enter and contemplate. The spectator is not led by his “Virgilio”, the space itself is the designated way.
Neverwhere has no beginning and no end. The duration of the event is three hours long in which the spectator / guest can come and go as they please.
The color of the light acts as a continuous perceptual change, as a lysergic path, therefore a ritual, to generate a continuous disorientation of the guest, who, relying on his own gaze, can choose what to look at, from what angle, for how long and how far to go.
Light and color trigger the device by articulating a three-dimensional space in dialogue with the performative activity. Lights and colors that change over time determine an – unstable – space that changes over time. The stage device and costumes, by means of strongly chromatically connoted materials, illuminated by iridescent RGB LED lights, want to emphasize the perceptual instability so that both the dancers and the public involved lose the sense of the boundary between what is and what is appears.
