Alphabet et Ultra is a training course and choreutic study for dancers and performers with recent diplomas or with a proven professional background, conceived and conducted by gruppo nanou, shared with choreographers who have crossed and continue to cross the language of the company.

From 17 to 30 July 2023, in Ravenna, in the spaces of the Artificerie Almagià, two weeks to explore techniques, languages and visions in the field of contemporary and research dance with the choreographers Marco Valerio Amico, Daniele Albanese, Rhuena Bracci, Monica Francia, Francesca Proia and Stefania Tansini.

Participation is by selection.

The course is intensive, for 8 hours a day.
Alphabet et Ultra is free.
There are also up to a maximum of 10 fellowship for non-residents in Ravenna and neighboring areas.

The fellowship includes:

accommodation in a shared apartment with use of the kitchen from 17 to 30 July inclusive; a return trip reimbursement up to a maximum of €200.00 per person. The food is paid by the participants.
All participants are insured by Nanou Cultural Association.

At the end of the path, a public opening is planned to share the work done, in dialogue with the city.

To participate in the selection:

The form at the bottom of the page must be completed by and no later than May 8, 2023.
Availability is required throughout the course. Applications with partial availability will not be considered.
The selections are at the sole discretion of Nanou Cultural Association.
The selections will be communicated by 11 May 2023.

The choreographers of Alphabet et Ultra 2023:

Marco Valerio Amico

Marco Valerio Amico is a choreographer and graphic designer.
He graduated in 2001 at the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Dramatic Art in Milan. He trained as a dancer and as a choreographer with Monica Francia and Michele Di Stefano.
In 2004, together with Rhuena Bracci and Roberto Rettura, he founded gruppo nanou.
He is the creator and artistic director of the projects AgoràKajSkené (2008-2012) and Alphabet et Ultra, a training project in the contemporary dance field active since 2019.

Daniele Albanese

Daniele Albanese is a choreographer, dancer and performer who works between Italy and Berlin.
After training as a gymnast and ballet dancer, he graduated in 1997 from EDDC (now ArtEZ) in Arnhem in the Netherlands, where he studied Complex Movement, Release Technique, Alexander Technique, Composition, Choreographic Structure, Theory, Improvisation with masters related to American postmodernism such as Eva Karkzag, Steve Paxton, Lisa Kraus, Jennifer Lacey, K.J. Holmes, Mimi Goese, Yvonne Meyer.
In 2002 he founded the company STALKER_Daniele Albanese.
Since 2017 he has been associated artist of Nanou Cultural Association.
In June 2022 he graduated as master of Alexander Technique at the Schule für Alexander Technik directed by Dan Armon in Berlin.

Rhuena Bracci

She began training as a gymnast from the age of 5 by participating in national and international competitive events. She trained as a dancer with Monica Francia and Michele di Stefano.
From 1999 to 2004 he was part of the Monica Francia company, worked with the Teatro della Valdoca, was an interpreter in MK's Real Madrid.
Together Marco Valerio Amico and Roberto Rettura founded Nanou in 2004, for which she is still choreographer and performer.

Monica Francia

Raised in the avant-garde dance environment of New York in the late seventies, she decided to undertake an original path of research in the field of Italian contemporary dance. By creating working groups, she brings people together who, together with her, are committed to defining dance as a tool not only for artistic, political and social research, but also for personal ones. Francesca Proia

Dancer, choreographer, yoga teacher, author.
He has collaborated for a long time with the director Romeo Castellucci. She presents her work as a choreographer in the major centers of contemporary creation, obtaining numerous awards. Yoga, sensory and conceptual support, runs through his creation project from the very beginning. In 2016 he created Mìnera, a yoga school in absentia. In 2018 he founded in Ravenna I vases comunicanti, an advanced training school for yoga teachers, and in 2022 I campi magnetici, a further segment of specialization and research. He is a teacher at Malagola, a vocal school and a research center on the voice directed by Ermanna Montanari.
In 2022, for Astrolabio Ubaldini publisher she publishes "Yoga, the composition of techniques".

Stefania Tansini

Stefania Tansini is a graduate of the Paolo Grassi Academy. She has worked as a dancer for Romeo Castellucci, Cindy Van Acker, Simona Bertozzi, Luca Veggetti, Enzo Cosimi, Ariella Vidach. She collaborates as a dancer with Motus. He has embarked on an authorial path of research on the body which he carries forward through choreographic projects (My body trio, My body solo, Refreshment points, The grace of the terrible, A question of life or death, Human line). Together with the photographer Luca Del Pia, he created the video projects Stupid Girls and Two mothers, with the Secret Theater Ensemble and Tempo Reale, Utera, a show with biodynamic sensors.
She is the winner of the UBU 2022 award in the "best performer under 35" category.
He is working on the new production L'ombelico dei limbi, which will be presented in 2024.
