gruppo Nanou’s new creation, we want miles, in a silent way is going to premiere in New York City, in the prestigious La MaMa ETC, in the frame of La MaMa Moves festival.

we want miles:

gruppo nanou approaches the work of Miles Davis, looking for a method to rewrite the company choreographic language and going indeep the improvisation and compositional methodology of the musician to grasp rules and processes capable of perturbing the scene, translating Miles language into choreography.

To face Davis, Nanou has to proceed in a silent way, removing the trumpet, subtracting his music because the comparison is about the perceptive destabilization that Miles created methodologically through all his work.

His work on time, on rhythm, the search for continuous new sounds, his referring so often to “color” are all elements that defined his language and made his sound so concrete, materic.
In the autobiography Miles explained that already in KIND OF BLUE he wanted to express the ancestral relationship between music and dance, therefore between time and space, mind and body.

Nanou works on the relational color dynamics of light, space, time and the timbres of bodies in a continuous process of definition, alteration, loss and reconstruction of structures, within a paradigm of permanent instability.
