An important synergy runs with the Teatro Stabile dell'Umbria, so much so that its head of dance programming, Marco Betti, is there to welcome us at the first of this long day's performative moments, at the entrance to the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria: among masterpieces by Beato Angelico and Perugino we attend Fuori quadro by gruppo nanou, an event conceived for sixteenth- and seventeenth-century picture galleries, in which the body enters the space of the painting to extend its tensions.
The bodies are those of Carolina Amoretti, Marina Bertoni and Andrea Dionisi who, dressed in gold and deep blue, sway within that ultramarine which merges with the sky, while the paintings surfacing from time hold a dialogue among themselves, and with the space. They cross the rooms, moving from one masterpiece to the next; they give an enchanting essence to Fuori quadro, which lives on the choreography of Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci. And it is Amico's loving gaze that watches over them, like that of a demiurge, of a painter who brushes reality into being, silent, simply observing, smiling.

In a supple dance they trace fine threads of hair, gestures, lithe bodies, conveying tenderness and strength, while we witness the magic of the "shape of the body that opens, folds back, spills over the frame".
As Amoretti, Bertoni and Dionisi come together at the end in the sinuosity of their dance, Marco Valerio Amico rises to mark the close of that journey with a smile, met by a long and heartfelt round of applause.
We will discover that this drape, with its long golden folds, that trail of gold, also accompanies the mysterious dance of Marina Bertoni in Camera 2046 – Overlook Hotel, whose national premiere falls on 20 July, which we were unable to experience, though we hope to do so soon, to listen to the mystery it may hold and share. Overlook Hotel is a multi-year project by gruppo nanou exploring the bond between body, space, perception and memory, as the main chapters of this journey.
