Room 404 takes its name from the computer error code that signals nonexistent content. Here that emptiness is transformed into a performative place, where absence becomes presence, unstable memory and choreographic matter.
The project is part of a larger path entitled Overlook Hotel, of which redrum (installation winner of the Ubu 2024 award in the Best Italian Dance Performance category) was its first chapter.
Overlook Hotel is the iconic and symbolic place of the very famous book and then film Shining. The Place is the choreographic object and is the unleashing of the imaginary, a dreamlike and surreal world between the subconscious and madness.
404 is the symbolic number to open up an unexpected world.
In this context, the performance space is understood as a place of unstable memory, where images and time crumple and multiply into divergent possibilities.
Choreographic solo for Rhuena Bracci, a founding and authorial figure of the company capable of conjuring up ghosts, disturbing presences, and visual memories to haunt the stage.
Room 404 develops a research started during the pandemic as part of Digital Residencies and is further developed through the recent artistic residency at KIBLA Maribor (Digital on Stage Mobility Programme 2025).
