This is “non è la solita newsletter”, now for the first time in English too. If you have been following us for a while, you know how ambitious the undertaking is. If you have just arrived, and are perhaps reading us in translation for the first time: welcome.
Let’s begin.

In summer you take the kind of time where thoughts line up with desires.

One of the strongest concerns spaces for dance: places properly equipped (sprung floors and showers, and the room to build a set) to produce, to research, to renew the language of dance and choreography. In Italy the public places devoted to this can be counted on one hand.
There are spaces to show dance (theatres that also programme a bit of dance). There are spaces to train the body (gyms and schools). There are events that experiment with other kinds of space — open-air festivals, museums, archaeological parks, parks and nothing more — always with a view to showing a finished product, complete, thought through and ready to go. And then there are some residency spaces, a handful of them truly conceived for dance.
To do something different we need places equipped and flexible enough to allow a thought to be renewed, to move beyond what we already know. We need places where bodies are among bodies and meet what we want for the future. And of course we need time and money.
Non è la solita newsletter, and in the days of the NID Platform it is worth talking about the need for places, spaces, times and ways of making dance.

In the meantime, if any of you, or anyone you know, feels like taking on a venture here in Romagna, get in touch. Perhaps you have or know of a space of at least 300 square metres — 1,000 would be the most, imagining guest rooms as well — with a height between 5 and 7 metres, a space that could become something.

Monday 7, Stefania in Rovereto for Oriente Occidente with Studi per M.
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, the last chance this year to see goldroom, in Pesaro, in a villa. A setting like this comes along rarely. Be there.
Sunday 13, Aurelio in Rome at Parco Sangalli.
Saturday 19, in the hills outside Bologna, in the garden/house of Flavio Favelli, Paradiso [giardino] for PerAspera.
From 21 to 30 September, Stefania on residency in Rosignano Marittimowith Armunia.
Tuesday 22, in Ravenna, we are doing Specie di spazi at via Zara 27, with a lot of good people. Armonika is there too, and the bar stays open.
Thursday 24 and Friday 25, 3 camere at the Ipercorpo festival in Forlì: three attentions born out of goldroom, on the work of Rhu, Carolina and Marina. Surprise incursions.

Alos: This one is by an artist I want to flag up, I hope I haven’t done it already haha. An artist I’ve been listening to a lot, mostly while driving. I got to see her live at Beaches Brew in June, and she was astonishing.
