From Dro to Venice and Sansepolcro, passing through Ravenna and returning to Vicenza, looking for the summer festivals of a dance that does not discount crosses the incredible performance that of Ivo Dimchev with that of the Hungarian Hodworks and the evocative Paradiso of the nanou group. Here is a first report from the festival dedicated to the performing arts.

A paradise of shadows at the Ravenna Festival
[...] Created in synergy with the visual artist Alfredo Pirri, Paradiso of the gruppo nanou debuted instead at Ravenna Festival. The choreographic project will be completed only in 2022, but in the meantime in this first draft the status of blessed souls seems to coincide with that of the shadows. On a reflective carpet with wide silver and gold stripes, with slowness and continuity these dancing souls are arranged, in front of 33 spectators at a time for 33 minutes during 7 repeated appointments in the 3 days of replicas. Such respectful symbolism may be oppressive, but it is not. Never seen so many blesseds so close to mortals: in this mirror lake, like a water that looks like ice (and in Dante it is the center of Hell), the continuous movement is a soft release (always too much the same, however) with spins and spirals and slow steps, in which almost nothing is sudden. Someone scrambles in large outreach on the diagonal, while then a Dante in a red bathrobe appears disoriented with a lot of mirroring pool glasses and sur tonefins. In one place, the presences on stage (always dressed with great elegance) lift the tulle that covers the face to say words to us, that we are there and yet we do not feel. The truest salvation is in fact the imagination.
