June 1, 2026 premieres goldroom, the second installment of the gruppo nanou’s Overlook Hotel cycle, as part of Ravenna Festival.
In repeat performances June 2 and June 5-7 in Ravenna’s Covered Market spaces.
goldroom is the second chapter of Overlook Hotel, a cycle of works investigating the relationship between body, image, and memory through autonomous yet interconnected choreographic installations. After redrum — awarded the Premio Ubu 2024 for Best Dance Performance — the project continues by exploring the perception of time as unstable matter.
In goldroom, the stage space transforms in relation to the presence of the performers, the light, and the video images projected onto cathode-ray tube monitors, where live feeds and recorded materials coexist. The aim is not to multiply points of view, but to construct—within the television set—an alternative time and space that intertwine with the real scene, following the logic of dream, memory, and hallucination.
As in heist films where surveillance systems alter the sequence of events, goldroom works on synchronicity and temporal deception to conjure up disturbing presenzed, ghosts and images that return to haunt the scene.
goldroom is the second installment of Overlook Hotel, a cycle of works that investigates the relationship between body, image and memory through autonomous and interconnected choreographic installations.
The project takes on space as a choreographic object: an environment that produces imagery, activates the subconscious, and alters the perception of time.
