Villa Imperiale, the sixteenth-century Della Rovere residence, hosts the choreographic installation goldroom with its historic architecture. The room of the Overlook Hotel rewrites itself in an unprecedented version, taking in the architecture of the Villa’s garden, and lets that change guide it.

goldroom, second chapter of the Overlook Hotel project, a cycle of works investigating the relation between body, image and memory through autonomous, interconnected choreographic installations. After redrum — Ubu Award 2024 for Best Dance Performance — the project continues by exploring the perception of time as unstable matter.
goldroom evokes the ballroom of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, inhabited by ghostly presences. A device of light, sound and vision builds a space that shifts before the eye.The choreography works on the disorder of memory: fragments that come together and scatter. Images emerge, break off, return as traces. Time cracks: what happens now seems to have happened already. The viewer stays inside the transformation of a room that keeps changing.
