gruppo nanou, Paradiso - Sala Cielo
14 – 24 June 2023
KURSAAL SANTALUCIA - SALA CIELO

Wednesday 14 June 2023 5:00AM Live - Bruno Dorella
Performance 8:00PM - 9:30PM

On the occasion of:

Alfredo Pirri, SALA CIELO, PROGETTI E VISIONI curated by Michele Spinelli
16 June – 27 July 2023

From June 14, Paradiso arrives in Bari invited by Teatro Pubblico Pugliese to celebrate the opening of the Sala Cielo inside the Kursaal Santalucia, one of Bari's recently restored historic theaters.

The Sala Cielo, transformed into an environmental artwork by visual artist Alfredo Pirri, from first light June 14 opens its doors for the first time to the public with a live set by Bruno Dorella. In a space that changes as the natural light changes, Dorella plays live her work created for Paradiso, a series of electronic music compositions designed according to the bodies and the choreography of the performance.

This live preview anticipates Paradiso – Sala Cielo by the nanou group, Alfredo Pirri and Bruno Dorella who at 20:00 and 21:30 from 14 to 24 June will once again transform the spaces of the Sala Cielo through the performance redesigned for the environment/work by Alfredo Pirri.

Paradiso, finalist for the UBU 2022 awards in the "Best dance performance" and "Best scenography" categories, was born in 2020 as an evolution of the nanou group's reflection on the possibilities of live entertainment and its rewriting.

Inspired by Dante's Paradiso, the performance is made up of elements that arise from the dialogue between the different arts: the music created by Bruno Dorella and the scene curated by Alfredo Pirri join the choreography conceived by Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci that cross the space with lightness, extension, speed and power.

Here, Paradiso changes shape and enters into dialogue with the environment. This new moment represents for Paradiso a silent and contemplative reaction to the surrounding environment, which further modifies the terms of a relationship and an artistic dialogue that is always open and in progress, which aim at the creation of a total, hybrid work that allows the emergence of new and ephemeral visions.

The Paradiso project, in all its forms, creates a temporary sharing space, combining different artistic elements to generate a unique immersive experience, which the viewer is called to live freely, to take a seat in the space and share it, to move it and to fluctuate between events.

This research paves the way for a new conception of choreographic art, which embraces all artistic disciplines and establishes a new relationship between performance, space and audience.

In fact, even though the space acts with other people, each guest experiences a unique and unrepeatable event, building their own point of view: each Paradise is necessarily different because it relates to the space and every day the choreography is enriched with different details and alliances. The memory of the performance is therefore unique for each spectator, in the same place the events are composed and broken down through an imagined principle to continuously create a unique experience. Difficult to tell.

The Paradiso – Sala Cielo performance will be accessible to a maximum of 40 spectators at a time from 14 to 24 June at 8 PM and 9.30 PM.

The project anticipates and is part of Alfredo Pirri's personal exhibition: "Sala Cielo, projects and visions" curated by Michele Spinelli and created by the Pino Pascali Foundation.

The project is produced by the Puglia Region with the Pino Pascali Foundation and the Pugliese Public Theater as part of the Strategic Plan of culture for Puglia 2017-2025.
